What SEO isn't : Remember that there isn't a switch or tap that can be turned on to let the SEO flow. You don't just install a piece of software and leave it be. SEO isn't about auto submitting your URLs to tens of thousands of worthless directories and search engines every week and charging you a wedge for the privilege. It isn't a 'black art' - despite having been described as such by some who would rather you believe that it can't be achieved by mere mortals. Because ethical SEO isn't just a few hours work but an ongoing process, I won't delude you into believing that you can pay someone £50 and it will magically happen. There are plenty of packages available on the market and companies that will take your money and automate your search engine submissions, but that isn't SEO and it isn't what I offer.

What SEO is : Basic SEO revolves around two essential elements, namely 1) a well structured site with lots of releveant original content and 2) quality permanent back links to your site's pages. Believe it or not the search engine algorithms are intended to deliver appropriate results whenever a search is performed. Give the engines (and their users) what they're looking for and they will reward you in turn with improved SERP results for your desired keywords and phrases.

Your site should contain appropriate <head> information , <h1> headings, image <alt> tags, text formatting, hyperlinks etc. and use an appropriate URL for each page. Content should be both human and search engine friendly. Back links should be from a range of topic related and good quality third party sites, using appropriate anchor text and linking to a relevant section of your own website. Finding these can be one of the hardest aspects of SEO. If you've been told that a few links from a forum or blog will be good enough then it's time to think again. Signature links may be helpful in promoting your site but many forums and blogs nowadays "nofollow" their links to combat possible abuse. Irrelevant comments with poor grammar, just for the sake of dropping a link, won't cut the mustard but it may well antagonise the very webmasters that you need to engage with for the quality links that you actually need. You won't find us using underhand techniques that put your site at risk. There's no attempting to second-guess a potential exploit, automation of link requests, link cloaking, link spamming or anything similar. I'm not going to promise you thousands of backlinks for peanuts, purely because each of the links we find for you takes time and energy to obtain and is valuable to you and the web admins of the domains that they're from.
